Job summary

Wabtec in the United States is seeking a Senior Embedded Network Design Engineer to lead the architecture, development, and validation of locomotive communication networks. You will shape network designs for Serial, Ethernet, and ARCNET across freight, transit, hybrid, and battery-electric platforms.

You will guide cross-functional teams, ensure robust cyber-physical integration, and support field validation, troubleshooting, and product reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• Minimum 10 years of engineering experience with at least 3 years Ethernet design.
• Experience with Layer 2/3 switch configuration and network architecture.
• Knowledge of networks, controls, software integration, and cybersecurity.
• Willingness to work hands-on in lab and locomotive environments.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop Serial, Ethernet, and ARCNET communication networks for locomotive and transit applications.
• Lead network design activities for new product introduction (NPI) programs, product upgrades, and customer requisitions.
• Develop and manage network requirements, design standards, and validation methodologies to ensure robust system performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure proper integration, implementation, and validation of locomotive control systems and network architectures.
• Support cybersecurity initiatives by incorporating secure network design principles and requirements into product development activities.
• Investigate and resolve field and laboratory issues through structured troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
• Provide technical guidance and leadership to engineering teams while communicating program status, risks, and opportunities to stakeholders.
• Support the development of next-generation locomotive technologies, including battery-electric and transit applications.
