Job summary

Wabtec Corporation is seeking a Senior Embedded Network Design Engineer to architect, develop, and validate locomotive communication networks. You’ll lead Ethernet network design for new product introductions and upgrades, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure robust performance and secure systems.

The role emphasizes hands-on lab work, field support, and delivering design validation across locomotive and transit platforms while contributing to battery-electric initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• 10+ years engineering experience, with at least 3 years in Ethernet network design.
• Knowledge of Layer 2/3 switch configuration and network architecture development.
• Understanding of communications networks, controls, software integration, and cybersecurity; controls/software dev experience preferred.
• Strong technical leadership, problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop Serial, Ethernet, and ARCNET networks for locomotive and transit applications.
• Lead network design activities for NPI programs and customer requests.
• Develop and manage network requirements, standards, and validation methodologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for integration and validation of locomotive control networks.
• Support cybersecurity by applying secure network design principles.
• Troubleshoot field and lab issues with root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Provide technical guidance and communicate program status to stakeholders.
• Support next-gen locomotive tech including battery-electric and transit applications.
