Job summary

Wabtec in Fort Worth, TX is seeking a Senior Engineer - Locomotive Network Controls to lead architecture, development, and validation of locomotive communication networks. You will apply expertise in network design, controls systems, and cybersecurity to support new product introductions and field issue resolution.

Collaborating with customers, suppliers, systems engineering, software, cybersecurity, manufacturing and service groups, you will deliver robust, safe, and high‑performing networks

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years engineering experience with at least 3 years Ethernet network design experience.
• Experience with Layer 2/3 switch configuration and network architecture development.
• Knowledge of communications networks, controls systems, software integration, and cybersecurity; controls or software development preferred.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Willingness to work hands-on in laboratory and locomotive environments for design validation and testing.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop Serial, Ethernet, and ARCNET communication networks for locomotive and transit applications.
• Lead network design activities for new product introductions (NPI), upgrades, and customer requisitions.
• Develop and manage network requirements, design standards, and validation methodologies for robust system performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure proper integration and validation of locomotive control systems and network architectures.
• Support cybersecurity initiatives by incorporating secure network design principles into product development.
• Investigate and resolve field and lab issues through structured troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
• Provide technical guidance and leadership to engineering teams and communicate program status to stakeholders.
• Support development of next-generation locomotive technologies, including battery-electric and transit applications.
