Job Summary

The Sr. Linux Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain applications and embedded software for advanced analytical instrumentation systems. This role spans the full software development lifecycle and requires expertise in Linux-based embedded systems, application development, instrument control, and software architecture for complex scientific products.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and embedded systems throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Develop software solutions ranging from instrument control and user interfaces to data processing and analytical algorithms.
• Implement innovative user interfaces, data analysis capabilities, and instrument troubleshooting and debugging
• Support new product development and sustain existing products through troubleshooting, enhancements, and defect resolution.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, scientific, project management, and manufacturing teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Participate in software design reviews, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field strongly preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• 8+ years of software development experience.
• Hands-on experience with embedded Linux development, including Linux system configuration, Bash scripting, Yocto/BitBake, Linux kernel and driver development, device trees, U-Boot, software package management, and deployment/update frameworks such as SWUpdate.
• Strong proficiency in C#,.NET, and object-oriented software design.
• Experience with Git and collaborative software development practices.
• Experience developing software for embedded systems and distributed architectures.
• Strong understanding of multi-threaded programming, debugging, and software security principles.
• Programming experience in C and C++; Rust experience is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance, if required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Blazor, WebSockets, and GraphQL.
• Experience with Docker or other containerization technologies.
• Experience with instrumentation control, scientific instruments, or mass spectrometry systems.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment.
• Familiarity with electro-mechanical systems and hardware integration.
• Experience using Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) in a development environment.
