Job summary

Ursa Major is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain flight software powering engines, vehicles, and avionics. You will join a small, high-impact team delivering reliable, safe, and high-performance software for aerospace applications.

The role requires a detail-oriented, self-driven engineer who thrives on solving complex challenges and advancing propulsion and defense technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years of professional embedded C/C++ development experience for ARM/SoC/FPGA platforms.
• Hands-on experience with hardware interface programming (timers, interrupts, communication protocols, ADCs).
• Proficiency reading schematics and debugging with hardware tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).
• Experience using Git and version control; ability to work independently and in teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software for avionics throughout the product lifecycle.
• Develop and maintain ground support software tools and systems.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to define and deliver new software features.
• Document designs, code, and procedures to ensure maintainability and compliance.
• Debug, optimize, and support software and hardware integration efforts.
