Job summary

TYLsemi, Inc. in San Jose, CA, is seeking a Staff Embedded Firmware Engineer to own Zephyr RTOS firmware for the Platform Controller, covering pre-silicon bring-up through production release, collaborating with design, DV, and systems teams.

You will design and maintain drivers, implement subsystems, review upstream drivers, enable lightweight ML for anomaly detection, perform post-silicon bring-up, and contribute to CI, docs, and release notes.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years embedded firmware development in C/C++.
• Hands-on RTOS experience on 32-bit MCUs (ARM Cortex-M or RISCV).
• Strong grasp of I2C, SPI, UART at wire level.
• Debugging with JTAG/SWD, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers.
• Familiar with Git, GCC/Clang, CMake, Python, and CI systems.
• Applied AI/ML workflows, model deployment, memory budgeting.
• BS or MS in Electrical/Computer Engineering or CS or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain Zephyr RTOS firmware for platform management controller.
• Write and upstream-quality-review drivers against Zephyr’s driver model; devicetree bindings, Kconfig, init levels.
• Deploy and maintain lightweight ML inference on target for anomaly detection and predictive fault analysis.
• Perform post-silicon bring-up: first-boot debug, clock/reset validation, bus enumeration, triage RTL-vs-firmware.
• Debug hard problems using JTAG/SWD, ETM/ITM trace, protocol analyzers, and logic analyzers.
• Build and extend CI: unit tests, Twister test suites, hardware-in-the-loop regression, static analysis gates.
• Write documentation: design docs, bring-up guides, register-level notes, release notes.
