Job summary

TYLsemi, Inc. is seeking a Staff Embedded Firmware & System Software Engineer to join the Platform Controller and SoC Stack team in California.

You will build the software stack for next-generation silicon, focusing on secure boot, bootloader, kernel drivers, PCIe subsystem, and IOMMU configuration. You will design and maintain Zephyr-based firmware, upstream drivers, and system software across boot and runtime paths, debugging complex PCIe/IOMMU issues and ensuring robust hardware-software

Qualifications

8–10 years of embedded firmware and/or system software experience in C/C++ (modern C++ or Rust exposure preferred).
Hands-on RTOS experience on 32-bit MCUs (Arm Cortex-M or RISCV) with scheduling and ISR design knowledge.
Proven driver development against a formal driver model and peripheral interrupts.
Strong reading of hardware specs and translating them into testable software.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain Zephyr RTOS firmware for a platform management controller.
Develop and upstream drivers, including devicetree bindings, Kconfig, and device APIs.
Bring up and debug PCIe links on first silicon, including training, lane reversal, and equalization.
Implement PCIe host/endpoint drivers, DMA, MSI, AER, and ASPM enhancements.
Configure and validate IOMMU behavior and DMA remapping across the stack.
Develop bootloaders and firmware-to-OS handoff, including ACPI or device tree descriptions.
