Job summary

1X is seeking an experienced firmware engineer to own the embedded software across core hardware subsystems of a humanoid robot. You will work at the intersection of hardware and software, ensuring robust, safe firmware for prototypes and production platforms.

Key tasks include delivering production-quality firmware for bus interfaces, battery charging, and actuator drives, while collaborating with hardware architects to manage trade-offs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of embedded firmware development in C/C++ on real hardware, with interrupts, DMA, and timing-critical execution.
• Hands-on experience with microcontrollers and embedded communication interfaces (CAN, SPI, I²C, UART).
• Demonstrated ability to debug firmware on real hardware using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, or equivalent tools.

Responsibilities

• Own the firmware layer across one or more core hardware subsystems, ensuring embedded software that is robust, safe, and maintainable across prototype and production platforms.
• Deliver production-quality firmware for communication bus, battery charging, or actuator drives that meet reliability and safety requirements.
• Define requirements with hardware architects, surface trade-offs early, and resolve issues before they block downstream teams.
• Establish diagnostic and telemetry infrastructure that accelerates end-of-line validation and supports long-term field reliability.
