Job summary

1X is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and deliver mechanical subsystems powering humanoid motion. You will own subsystems from concept through production, developing high-performance hardware for reliable home robotics.

Collaborate across electrical, firmware, controls, manufacturing and robotics teams to iterate rapidly, validate designs, and push production releases while balancing weight, cost, and manufacturability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years designing mechanical or electromechanical systems or products.
• Proficiency with professional 3D CAD software.
• Strong understanding of structural mechanics, machine design, and fundamentals.
• Experience with structural FEA and engineering validation.
• Hands-on prototyping and lab experience.
• Experience with GD&T, tolerance analysis, and production-ready docs.
• Shipped at least one production hardware product.
• Extensive experience selecting and integrating bearings.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver mechanical subsystems from concept through production.
• Develop high-performance electromechanical hardware balancing strength, weight, durability, and cost.
• Prototype, test, and iterate to meet performance and manufacturability goals.
• Integrate motors, sensors, PCBAs, cabling, bearings, and power transmission into assemblies.
• Collaborate with electrical, firmware, controls, manufacturing, and robotics teams to ensure robust designs.
