Job summary

Xcimer Energy seeks an Embedded Engineer to design, bring up, and integrate custom electronics and firmware for laser and pulsed power systems at our Denver headquarters. You will own boards and firmware end-to-end, from requirements through fabrication, bring-up, and deployment, while solving diverse hardware and software challenges.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related STEM field.
• 5+ years embedded hardware and firmware experience (or PhD with hands-on embedded).
• Strong analog/digital PCB design, RTOS, and signal integrity fundamentals.
• Experience with JTAG/SWD debugging and common interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet, USB).

Responsibilities

• Design, simulate, and lay out mixed-signal PCBs in Altium Designer.
• Develop firmware for MCUs/FPGA SoC in C/C++ (drivers, BSP, stacks, logic).
• Own boards and firmware end-to-end from requirements to deployment.
• Perform board bring-up, debug, and root-cause hardware/firmware issues.
• Implement real-time control and data acquisition, RTOS execution.
• Integrate with control systems (PLC, EtherCAT, LabVIEW, Python).
• Create test procedures, fixtures, and hardware-in-the-loop tests.
• Collaborate with controls, mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams.
