Job summary

Xcimer Energy is seeking an Embedded Engineer to design, bring up, and integrate custom electronics and firmware for high‑energy laser and pulsed power systems at our Denver headquarters. You will own boards end‑to‑end from requirements through deployment, with responsibilities spanning design, bring‑up, testing, and cross‑functional collaboration.

The role emphasizes real‑time control, deterministic timing, and hardware‑software integration in a fast‑paced, mission‑critical environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related STEM field.
• 5+ years embedded hardware and firmware development experience (or PhD with embedded experience).
• Proven skills in analog/digital circuit design, mixed-signal PCB design, and power supply design.

Responsibilities

• Design, simulate, and lay out mixed-signal PCBs in Altium Designer.
• Develop firmware for microcontroller and FPGA-based boards in C/C++, including drivers and application logic.
• Own boards and firmware end-to-end from requirements to deployment and support installation.
• Board bring-up and debugging at register and signal level; resolve hardware/firmware issues.
• Implement real-time control and data acquisition, including DMA, timing, and RTOS execution.
• Integrate electronics with control systems, PLC/EtherCAT, LabVIEW and Python data acquisition.
• Develop test procedures, automated test fixtures, hardware-in-the-loop tests, and verification reports.
• Solicit end-user feedback and iterate designs.
• Lead small projects and mentor junior engineers; contribute to standards.
