Job summary

nou Systems, Inc. seeks a Senior Embedded Engineer for its Advanced Sensing Area in Huntsville, AL to own embedded work end-to-end—architecture, FPGA design, firmware, and board bring-up. You will integrate with sensors, RF interfaces, and larger systems.

The role demands a hands-on approach, strong systems engineering discipline, and the ability to work across hardware and software boundaries in a defense-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related STEM field.
• 5+ years of full-time experience in embedded systems, FPGA, or electronics hardware engineering.
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout for multilayer/high-speed designs (Altium).
• Proficiency in C or C++ for embedded development.
• Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.
• U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Define embedded system architectures for prototype hardware, meeting size, weight, power, and performance needs.
• Own embedded tasks, assess design margins and technical risk, and validate results.
• Develop FPGA designs in VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog with RTL and testbenches.
• Design PCBs from schematic to layout and manage vendor interactions for fabrication.
