Job summary

Actalent in Ann Arbor, MI seeks a Senior Software Engineer to strengthen a Battery Management System (BMS) product line and lead the development of the next-generation platform. You will join a small, multidisciplinary team at a foundational stage, shaping architecture, electronics integration, and engineering practices across the full V-model from concept to production.

You will develop and support BMS software, implement protections, diagnostics, cell monitoring, balancing, and SOC/SOH

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience developing embedded software or controls for production products using C and C++.
• Experience with V-model development lifecycle (requirements, design, implementation, integration, verification).
• Experience with CAN communications and automotive interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support Battery Management System (BMS) software from requirements through production release.
• Design and implement BMS functions including protection, diagnostics, cell monitoring, balancing, and SOC/SOH concepts.
• Collaborate with Systems, Hardware, Validation, Manufacturing, Quality, and Field Application teams to support complete battery products.
• Define verification methods and perform hands-on integration and testing using BMS hardware and test equipment.
• Provide technical direction for software activities by external engineering partners.
• Develop and debug embedded software interfacing with electronics, sensors, and control hardware.
