Job summary

Matrix designs seeks a Senior RMA Repair Technician to lead advanced inspection, troubleshooting, testing, repair, and warranty evaluation of returned electronics. You will mentor technicians, manage inventory, and document outcomes in a fast-paced, on-site Newburgh, IN repair lab.

You will collaborate with Customer Success, Engineering, Quality, and operations to improve repair processes and test procedures while ensuring timely turnaround and product reliability.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in electronics testing, troubleshooting, repair, manufacturing, field service, or related technical environment.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, bills of materials, work instructions, and technical documentation.
• Proficient with electronic test and diagnostic equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal generators).
• Hands-on experience with soldering, de-soldering, component replacement, and PCBA repair.

Responsibilities

• Lead testing, troubleshooting, repair, and validation of returned electronic assemblies, subassemblies, and finished goods.
• Perform advanced diagnostics using schematics, work instructions, and test procedures.
• Determine repairability vs scrap based on findings and guidelines.
• Complete disassembly/reassembly to access components and verify operation after repair.
• Document test results, root cause findings, repairs, and disposition in records.
• Prioritize incoming RMA units to meet customer commitments and turnaround expectations.
• Maintain adequate inventory to support repairs and ensure control of department inventory.
• Maintain a safe, organized repair area and good housekeeping of tools and parts.
• Support development and improvement of repair procedures, test instructions, and documentation standards.
• Provide technical guidance and training to repair technicians and team members.
• Collaborate with Customer Success, Engineering, Quality, Assembly, Warehouse, and Field Service to identify recurring issues and improvement opportunities.
