Job summary

micro1 is seeking a Senior Electronics Quality Engineer for a remote contractor role in the United States. You will review PCB CAM and Gerber files, perform IPC A-610/WHMA-A-620 inspections, and analyze SMT/AOI defects to drive quality improvements in advanced electronics assembly and AI data training.

The role requires 8+ years in electronics quality and hands-on experience with PCB and semiconductor packaging, AS6081 counterfeit part screening, and C-SAM/X-ray inspections.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in electronics quality, CAM engineering, or failure analysis within PCB, wire harness, or semiconductor packaging domains.
• IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 inspection criteria experience; IPC CIS/CIT certification preferred.
• Experience reviewing Gerber data and using PCB CAM software for manufacturability and QA.
• Proficiency in SMT processes, AOI defect analysis, remediation of false calls.
• Experience with AS6081 counterfeit part detection and risk mitigation.
• Hands-on with C-SAM and X-ray semiconductor inspections; MIL-STD-883 familiarity.
• Strong written and verbal communication for stakeholder reporting.

Responsibilities

• Review PCB CAM and Gerber files for manufacturability, quality, and standards compliance.
• Perform IPC 610/IPC 620 visual inspections and provide detailed feedback on PCB assembly or wire harness builds.
• Analyze SMT and AOI defect types and identify root causes of false calls.
• Apply AS6081 counterfeit part detection expertise for risk mitigation insights.
• Conduct advanced semiconductor inspections using C-SAM and X-ray, including MIL-STD-883 checks.
• Prepare concise reports and present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with project leads to refine workflows and enhance AI training datasets.
