Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a hardware testing engineer in Mossville, IL to validate electrical components and connectivity hardware across Cellular, Satellite, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and UWB technologies. You will plan, coordinate, and execute hardware testing, analyze results, and drive issues to resolution.

The role requires collaboration with lab teams, suppliers, and engineers, ensuring compliance and reliability of hardware products before production. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with electronic component products, component integration and product quality management.
• Experience with Component Product Development for automotive, construction or mining industry.
• Experience with Supplier management.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes, audits and controls, defect containment and risk assessment through leading indicators.
• Knowledge and experience with connectivity/telematics product line.
• Knowledge and awareness of IoT standards, regulations, and regional requirements.
• Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to handle complex assignments.
• Ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing compliance with development processes and regulations for electrical and electronic systems and components.
• Investigating and troubleshooting all technical issues related to electrical and electronic systems and components.
• Managing electrical and electronic equipment vendors for the development of systems and components.
• Mentoring craftsmen, technicians and engineers in the development of electrical and electronic systems and components.
• Accountability for the definition and management of hardware requirements.
