Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a Senior Connectivity Hardware Engineer to design and develop electronic hardware for cellular, satellite, Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth and UWB connectivity at the Mossville, IL location. You will define hardware requirements, support board-level design, select components, and collaborate with suppliers to ensure performance and regulatory compliance.

You will also mentor engineers and technicians while ensuring robust hardware development processes.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience with electronic component products, integration and product quality management.
• Experience with supplier management and component development for automotive, construction or mining sectors.
• Familiarity with IoT standards, regulations and regional requirements.
• Strong analytical skills; capable of communicating complex technical information.
• Ability to work across hardware development lifecycle and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing compliance with development processes and regulations for electrical and electronic systems and components.
• Investigating and troubleshooting technical issues related to electrical and electronic systems and components.
• Managing electrical and electronic equipment vendors for system/component development.
• Mentoring craftsmen, technicians and engineers in hardware development.
• Defining and managing hardware requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
