Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking an experienced Engineering Support Technologist to join the Advanced Manufacturing group (7520). You will build and test electronics hardware, execute high‑rigor production operations, and collaborate with engineers to ensure process understanding and product quality.

You will maintain documentation, develop work instructions, and support development hardware testing while working onsite. A DOE Q clearance and 5 years of related experience are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma plus 5 years of directly related experience in building and testing electronics hardware or equivalent
• Active DOE Q-level security clearance or equivalent
• Experience with production operations and/or electro-mechanical assembly and testing
• Proven experience with soldering, assembling, and testing complex electronic assemblies
• IPC-A-610 and IPC J-STD-001 certification
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team that executes a variety of product realization missions
• Experience creating detailed work instructions and operating procedures and understanding product definition
• Experience reviewing quality data and paperwork to support product acceptance activities
• Experience providing technical support to manufacturing or development operations
• Demonstrated capability to conduct problem-solving activities/events and recommend corrective actions
• Demonstrated experience implementing Lean Six Sigma principles

Responsibilities

• Build and test complex electronics hardware to ensure functionality and compliance with specifications
• Work as part of a team to execute high-rigor production operations for electronic assemblies
• Collaborate with Product and Process Engineers to understand processes and expected results, identify deviations, troubleshoot, and implement solutions
• Recommend corrective or preventive actions to improve product quality and manage their implementation
• Maintain written work instructions, operating procedures, and other technical documents to control product definition during manufacturing
• Support the assembly and testing of development hardware
• Partner with technicians and engineers to deliver complex products meeting quality, safety, and security standards
