Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories seeks an Early Career Electromechanical Technologist in the Solid Dynamics area, onsite in New Mexico. The role involves executing physical experiments, assisting scientists with dynamic materials research, and maintaining lab equipment and data acquisition interfaces.

You will support test setups, troubleshoot high‑pressure gas and high‑voltage systems, and ensure lab safety while collaborating with suppliers and team members. DOE clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Requires understanding of the scientific method and experimental procedures.
• Experience in engineering, physics, chemistry, materials science, optics, lasers, radiation, or computer science.
• Ability to apply analytical and computer skills and interface equipment to data acquisition systems.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the execution of physical experiments to assist scientists and engineers in dynamic materials research using gas guns.
• Support research operations including test setup, execution, and turnaround.
• Build, modify, repair, and maintain laboratory apparatus and equipment, and interfaces for data acquisition.
