Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an experienced Staff Mechanical Engineer (T5) to lead mechanical design, analysis, integration, and testing for RF/EO aperture and payload structures. The role is based in Linthicum, MD, and requires leadership beyond foundational design activities.

Successful candidates will drive digital engineering, MBSE, and cross-functional collaboration, mentoring junior engineers and engaging with customers and leadership during program reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of experience or master's with 10+ years or PhD with 8+ years in Mechanical/Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
• U.S. citizenship is required and ability to obtain DoD Top Secret w/SCI clearance.
• Experience with space-qualified mechanical hardware design and antenna/EO sensor subsystems.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end mechanical design and development of antenna and electro-mechanical sensor sub-assemblies through all lifecycle phases.
• Develop high-fidelity CAD models and aerospace-compliant documentation.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks; support testing and troubleshooting.
