Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands in Rocky Mount, VA, is seeking a Maintenance Technician III to support manufacturing operations. You will diagnose and repair electro-mechanical equipment, perform detailed setups, and maintain components to ensure top performance.

This role requires PLC troubleshooting, safety adherence, and independent teamwork with QA and vendors. The position handles preventative maintenance, part usage tracking, and training of Level I/II technicians.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in related field, or equivalent related experience.
• 3-7 years' maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of and experience with Lock-Out, Tag-Out procedures.
• Must adhere to safety policies/procedures and be committed to customer quality.
• Must be available for regular standby assignments; overtime as required.
• Proficient in Word and Excel.
• Willingness to attend training sessions, including out of state locations.
• Ability to assist in Training Level I and II Technicians.
• Intermediate knowledge of fabrication (e.g., welding, basic machining).
• Strong work ethic and intermediate troubleshooting skills.
• Able to read printed materials, blueprints, schematics, and computer graphics.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to work independently and within a team with vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
• Attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair complex electro-mechanical problems with manufacturing equipment.
• Perform detailed setup on equipment including recipe changes and control adjustments.
• Repair and keep mechanical machine components in top operating condition.
• Advance understanding of electrical principles such as voltage, current and resistance.
• Diagnose and repair electrical control circuits, field devices, sensors, photo eyes, etc.
• Troubleshoot PLC inputs/outputs and repair issues.
• Complete projects to add electrical circuits and controls, new equipment and relocate machines.
• Maintain and repair pneumatic systems including cylinders and components.
• Perform maintenance tasks following instructions.
• Enter all work completed in maintenance software.
• Monitor spare parts usage and complete parts order forms.
• Adjust equipment based on SPC data and coordinate with QA.
• Train Level I and II technicians in more complex tasks.
