Job summary

As the Electrification Controls System Senior Engineer at Caterpillar Inc., you will contribute to the concept, development, and design of complex electronics systems for our electrification product line.

This role requires strong analytics, expertise in embedded systems, and experience with software requirements, MATLAB modeling, and datalinks (J1939/Ethernet). You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality solutions and support customers and partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in engineering or computer science.
• Experience authoring Software Requirements Specifications.
• Experience with data links including J1939 and Ethernet.
• Previous software development experience.
• Experience guiding design decisions with process partners.
• Proficiency with MATLAB modeling software.
• Experience delivering software from requirements through validation.

Responsibilities

• Perform requirements analysis and decomposition for electronics systems.
• Conduct Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) on components and subsystems.
• Create boundary diagrams and interface specifications for projects.
• Perform needs analysis and initiate design ideas.
• Design and promote new control systems and subprocesses.
• Perform network analysis on embedded electronics architectures.
• Analyze engineering data from engines or machines.
• Evaluate new products, processes, or systems for viability.
• Execute integration lab testing and support field deployments.
