Job summary

Scatec is seeking a Senior Electrician for our facility in Ceres, Western Cape. The role involves modifying, repairing and maintaining electrical equipment and systems, performing switching, isolation, earthing and LOTO duties, and supporting junior personnel with training.

You will interpret schematics, conduct preventive maintenance on BESS and PV systems, supervise contractors, and help develop standard operating procedures to ensure safe, reliable operation of our solar assets.

Qualifications

• N3 Qualification required
• Qualified Electrician and ORHVS qualification
• Registered 3 phase installation electrician (SANS 10142); not single-phase tester
• 5+ years Electrical experience – AC & DC electrical systems
• Proven experience on MV & HV equipment troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance
• Ability to take ownership of electrical systems on the plant
• High Voltage Switching and Solar PV Plant experience
• Supervise, trainjunior personnel in associated duties and evaluate electrical staff
• Maintain Transformers and Switchgear and Assist with reporting and perform various HSE related inspections
• Experience with HV Switching, Solar PV Plant & BESS

Responsibilities

• Perform modification, troubleshooting, repair testing and maintenance of all facility electrical equipment, systems and network communication
• Execute switching, isolation, safety testing, earthing, and LOTO activities in line with ORHVS and PSR authorisation levels
• Conduct OEM-specific preventative and corrective maintenance on BESS, PV systems, and associated electrical equipment
• Interpret schematics and blueprints
• Quality assurance checklists and inspections to document deficiencies and identify corrective actions needed
• Daily digital reporting and document on CMMS the maintenance activities of all facility electrical equipment, systems and spare parts
• Control and perform monthly electrical equipment/instruments and tools inspections
• Monitor and support the activities of Maintenance sub-contractor(s)
• Assist in developing standard operating procedures and processes
• Identify and provide feedback to issues and ongoing development of projects
• Perform functions of Authorised Person and Responsible Person as per Plant requirements
