Job summary

EDP Renewables is seeking an experienced High Voltage Operations Specialist to oversee wind and solar facility performance, safety, and reporting. You will coordinate with the HV Manager and Operations Manager, supervise technicians, and ensure reliability of substation equipment.

The role requires strong technical knowledge, hands-on maintenance experience, and on-site leadership with willingness to travel as needed. California-based site preferred.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of college or technical school education, or equivalent
• 5+ years of relevant experience in solar or BESS energy or related industry
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and SQL Server; experience with reporting systems
• Demonstrated ability to be the onsite point of contact and lead day-to-day operations
• Experience with power plant operations, wind plant operations, high-voltage switching, and maintenance of turbines

Responsibilities

• Ensure proper operation, inspection and maintenance of plant equipment and systems including substation and related components
• Gather information on performance issues and diagnose/implement solutions up to intermediate routine issues
• Comply with environmental health and safety programs
• Provide 24/7 on-call remote HV support for troubleshooting and repairs
• Oversee contractor performance and assist in EDPRs responsibilities such as pad mount transformer switching
• Manage spare parts inventory for the facility
• Prepare reports to meet reporting requirements and engage internal/external resources
• Direct the work of Solar Tech 1 and Solar Tech 2 technicians when applicable
• Coordinate budget administration with High Voltage and Operations Managers
• Periodically report to HV Manager and Operations Manager on day-to-day operations
