Job summary

Vertiv is seeking an experienced Field Engineer - Electrical Testing to perform acceptance, commissioning and maintenance testing on high voltage power systems. You will analyze results, generate detailed reports, and mentor junior technicians while traveling regionally up to 75%.

The role requires NETA Level III/IV, 7+ years of HV testing experience, and proficiency with specialized test equipment. A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel are essential.

Qualifications

• NETA Level III or IV certification current and in good standing.
• 7+ years hands-on electrical testing in medium/high voltage environments.
• Strong knowledge of NETA MTS/ATS standards.
• Proficiency with test equipment listed (Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF).
• Ability to read/interpret one-line and three-line diagrams, schematics, P&IDs.

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems up to 500kV.
• Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis.
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, microprocessor-based).
• Test insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance on transformers, switchgear, cables, and circuit breakers.
• Interpret results and write comprehensive engineering reports with findings and recommendations.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical failures under time-critical conditions.
• Mentor Level I/II technicians and lead multi-discipline project teams.
