Job summary

Vertiv is hiring a Field Engineer - Electrical Testing to perform acceptance, commissioning and maintenance testing on high-voltage systems. You will analyze test results and prepare engineering reports, mentoring junior staff on site.

Requires NETA III/IV certification, 7+ years of HV testing experience, and readiness to travel regionally up to 75%. Competitive compensation up to $110/hour plus bonuses and benefits.

Qualifications

• NETA Level III or IV certification (current and in good standing).
• 7+ years of hands-on electrical testing in medium/high voltage environments.
• Proficiency with NETA MTS/ATS standards.
• Test equipment: Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF.
• Ability to read one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Willingness to travel regionally (up to 75%).

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems and equipment up to 500kV.
• Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis.
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based).
• Perform insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance testing on transformers, switchgear, cables, and circuit breakers.
• Interpret and analyze test results; author comprehensive engineering reports with findings and recommendations.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions.
• Mentor and train Level I/II technicians in the field.
• Serve as technical lead on multi-discipline project teams.
• Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS standards, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety requirements.
