Job summary

Arc, headquartered in Los Angeles, is electrifying the marine industry. Arc’s Electrical Systems Engineer will own the design, build, integration and execution of electrical systems on commercial vessels, reporting to the Manager, Commercial Systems Engineering.

You will develop topologies, IO maps, and wiring definitions, lead hardware trade studies, and collaborate with software teams to ensure seamless hardware-software integration. Travel up to 15% and on-site at our Los Angeles facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years in electrical systems integration, hardware development, or system-level engineering.
• Strong understanding of HV/LV systems, power distribution, sensors, and actuators.
• Familiarity with CAN/J1939, Modbus, Profinet, EtherCAT.
• Hands-on debugging HV/LV systems with meters and oscilloscopes.
• Experience developing system requirements, I/O maps, interface definitions.
• Strong written and verbal communication; translate hardware to software specs.
• ITAR compliance and U.S. person status may be required.

Responsibilities

• Own design and integration of high and low voltage electrical systems for commercial vessels.
• Develop and maintain electrical topologies, I/O maps, and harness definitions.
• Write functional specs and ensure hardware-software integration.
• Lead hardware trade studies, component selection, and supplier evaluation.
• Hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and debugging HV/LV systems in lab and field.
• Support sea trials to validate systems and feature parity.
• Interface with suppliers, shipyards, and vessel operators; travel 10-15%.
