Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to lead design and coordination for substations up to 765 kV, including protection, control, and yard layout. You will collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal teams on EPC projects and travel to sites as needed.

This senior role requires a bachelor’s in engineering, 5+ years of related experience, and a PE license. You’ll mentor juniors, develop BOMs, and help manage budgets and schedules in a fast‑paced, employee‑owned environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years related experience in electrical substation design.
• PE license required; professional engineer certification preferred.
• Experience coordinating with clients, vendors and project teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and coordination for high-voltage substations up to 765 kV.
• Develop protection and control designs and equipment wiring.
• Prepare BOMs and equipment specifications for procurement.
• Mentor junior staff and guide design teams.
• Coordinate with clients, vendors and subcontractors on EPC projects.
