Job summary

Vertiv in Ohio seeks a Senior Product Engineer to own technical definitions for modular IT infrastructure solutions, coordinating with Product Management, Manufacturing, and Quality to ensure performance, reliability, and scalability.

Responsibilities include system-level requirement analysis, documentation, and cross-functional engagement with customers. Candidates should bring 7–15 years in product or systems engineering, familiarity with regulatory standards, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• BSME, BSEE or related engineering discipline; master's degree or PE license is a plus.
• 7-15 years of experience in product or systems engineering or NPD in IT infrastructure/data center.
• Experience working directly with customers in a technical role (solution development, design reviews).
• Experience applying engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and compliance processes to commercial products.
• Exposure to full product lifecycle (concept to sustaining).
• Strong understanding of electrical, thermal, and mechanical systems and interfaces.
• Experience creating interpreting engineering drawings, specs, BOMs; Lean/Six Sigma beneficial.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to explain complex concepts to customers.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical definition of product solutions across mechanical, electrical, and thermal subsystems.
• Analyze and document system-level requirements for rack-, row-, and aisle-based solutions.
• Apply and evolve internal engineering standards and best practices for scalable designs.
• Support NPD activities including concept evaluation, requirements, design reviews, validation, and release.
• Validate engineering docs, BOMs, layouts, and integration guidelines.
• Act as technical contact for customers in meetings, reviews, and presentations.
• Translate customer specs and site needs into manufacturable product solutions.
• Support pre-sales by contributing technical input to proposals and drawings.
• Address customer technical questions and changes during the lifecycle.
• Provide voice of the customer feedback into product improvements and roadmaps.
• Ensure designs comply with ASME, ASHRAE, IEC, UL, ISO, NEC, and regional codes.
