Job summary

Nexamp is seeking a Senior Electrical Performance Engineer to improve the reliability, availability, and performance of Nexamp’s operating portfolio of distributed and utility-scale solar PV and BESS assets, currently exceeding 2 GW under management and in construction.

You will apply advanced electrical engineering analysis to operating systems in the field, performing root-cause failure analysis, diagnosing issues across inverters, transformers, protection systems, and balance-of-plant

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 7+ years of electrical engineering experience.
• 2+ years in solar protection relays (breakers, reclosers, power logic controllers, etc.).
• Professional Engineer license is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and take initiative.

Responsibilities

• Own plant protection, controls, and compliance strategy and coordinate with vendors and utilities.
• Engage with utilities on grid-interaction issues and optimize protection philosophies.
• Improve system reliability by evaluating protection schemes, relay timing, configurations, and inverter controls.
• Partner with Engineering to improve design standards and fleet consistency and develop templates and standards.
• Lead data-driven reliability efforts by analyzing logs and events and recommending actions.
• Own fleetwide monitoring and diagnostics strategy to reduce false positives and accelerate response.
• Develop analytical models and performance standards for Nexamp’s PV and BESS fleet.
• Represent Performance Engineering in cross-functional initiatives and mentor analysts.
