Job summary

Nexamp Inc. seeks a Senior Electrical Performance Engineer to improve reliability and performance of Nexamp’s solar PV and BESS assets (>2 GW).

This is a hands‑on, independent contributor role focusing on protection, controls, and data‑driven reliability across field systems and interconnection with utilities. Hybrid role based in Lawrence, MA or other listed offices; collaborate with Operations, Asset Management, Controls, and OEMs; report to the Director, Performance Engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 7+ years of electrical engineering experience.
• 2+ years in solar and protection relays (breakers, reclosers, power logic controllers, etc.).
• Professional Engineer license is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own plant protection, controls, and compliance strategy across OCPDs, relays, inverters, and plant controllers; manage setting changes with third‑party vendors; secure utility approvals.
• Interact with utilities on grid‑interconnection issues; diagnose misalignment between plant and utility protection philosophies; negotiate solutions.
• Improve system reliability by evaluating protection schemes, breaker coordination, relay timing, circuit configurations, and inverter control functions.
• Partner with Engineering to improve design standards, fleet consistency, and protection philosophies; focus on maintainability and lifecycle cost.
• Lead data‑driven reliability efforts by analyzing inverter logs, relay events, EMS dispatch data, and waveform captures; conduct root‑cause and 8D investigations.
• Own fleetwide monitoring and diagnostics strategy by refining alert thresholds and escalation workflows.
• Develop analytical models and standards for Nexamp’s PV and BESS fleet, combining power systems with data analytics.
• Influence decision-making by representing Performance Engineering in cross‑functional initiatives and mentoring junior analysts.
