Job summary

Nexamp is seeking a Senior Electrical Performance Engineer to enhance reliability and energy performance across our growing solar PV and energy storage assets. You will apply advanced electrical engineering analysis to fielded systems, drive root-cause investigations, and optimize control schemes in collaboration with Operations, Asset Management, and OEMs.

This hybrid role is based in our US offices (Lawrence, Boston, New York City, Chicago, or Washington, DC) and reports to the Director of

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 7+ years of electrical engineering experience.
• 2+ years of experience in solar and protection relays (breakers, reclosers, power logic controllers, etc.).
• Professional Engineer license is a plus.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Own plant protection, controls, and compliance strategy across protection settings and plant controllers.
• Engage with utilities on grid-interaction issues related to protection schemes and interconnection compliance.
• Improve system reliability by evaluating protection schemes, relay timing, and inverter control functions.
• Collaborate with Engineering to improve design standards and fleet consistency.
• Lead data-driven reliability and loss reduction efforts with inverter logs and EMS data.
• Own fleetwide monitoring and diagnostics strategy to reduce false positives and incident response.
• Develop analytical models and performance standards for Nexamp’s PV and BESS fleet.
• Represent Performance Engineering in cross-functional initiatives and mentor junior analysts.
