Job summary

Southland Industries seeks an experienced engineer to lead design and engineering work on HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection projects. You will evaluate, design, and engineer systems, and provide ongoing technical guidance to project teams on new design/build and rehabilitation projects.

Qualifications include a PE license, a bachelor’s degree in engineering, and a minimum of five years of experience with strong communication skills and CAD proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• PE License required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience.
• Strong knowledge of applicable systems design (fire suppression, HVAC, plumbing).
• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills, including CAD and Microsoft Office (Excel).

Responsibilities

• Perform complex calculations, drawings and specifications for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection or other systems.
• Perform calculations (loads, equipment sizing, friction/hydraulic).
• Develop standards, methods, processes for reviewing designs.
• Determine methods and solutions for complex engineering problems.
• Direct workflow of less-experienced engineers and mentor on designs and issues.
• Write technical narratives in response to RFIs.
