Job summary

Southland Industries seeks an experienced senior engineer to provide technical guidance to the Engineering Team in developing standards, projects, and people. You will ensure compliance with codes and lead design efforts from concept to completion.

You will mentor engineers, coordinate with clients, contractors and architects, and contribute to budgeting and scheduling. This role requires PE licensure, 12+ years of experience, and strong written and verbal communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering and PE license.
• 12+ years designing and developing projects from concept to completion.
• Detailed understanding of design and systems within all MEP markets (New Work, Industrial, Existing Buildings).
• LEED-accredited Professional certification strongly preferred.
• Excellent analytical and technical writing skills; strong verbal communication.
• Ability to lead design charettes and guide engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance to Engineering Team for standards, projects, and people.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, codes, specifications and design instruction.
• Identify design, process and equipment options to satisfy client requirements and minimize costs.
• Coordinate with client personnel, contractors, architects, and project team members for value engineering.
• Develop and distribute methods for solving complex engineering problems and design activities.
• Lead on-site field surveys and collect/ deliver design data.
• Write technical narratives to capture standards, lessons learned, and constructability input.
• Assist with project scheduling and budgeting related to engineering activities.
• Maintain standards for calculations, drawing presentation and external inputs.
• Travel up to 20%.
