Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking an experienced Engineer IV to support utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects across the Carolinas. You will provide technical leadership and project engineering support from initiation through construction and commissioning.

The role requires collaboration with project managers, contractors, and operations to ensure safe, efficient delivery in line with company standards. Frequent travel and a blend of field oversight and office work are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum 6+ years of engineering experience in utility, energy, industrial, construction, or infrastructure projects.
• Experience supporting large capital projects through design and construction phases.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, calculations, and engineering documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review engineering designs, technical specifications, construction drawings, equipment submittals, and contractor deliverables.
• Support project development, detailed design, construction, commissioning, and turnover activities.
• Serve as the technical liaison between engineering consultants, contractors, project managers, operations personnel, and other stakeholders.
• Identify and resolve technical issues impacting project execution, schedule, cost, or quality.
• Conduct site visits to monitor construction activities and verify compliance with engineering requirements.
