Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead full-stack hardware development for high‑reliability space electronics. You’ll progress from concept through schematic, layout, test and production, owning FPGA, processor and mixed‑signal circuits.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 5 years in board-level electronics design, analysis and test.
  • Experience in high-reliability space/defense electronics, including derating and thermal constraints.
  • Experience owning the design phase of circuits or boards, including trade studies and part selection.
  • Experience delivering subcircuit or board designs to production and deployment.
  • Experience performing complex PCB layout, HDI, high-speed digital or power electronics.
  • Proficiency with Altium and lab bring-up verification.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end design of electronics modules, from concept and architecture through schematic, layout, test, and production.
  • Own the digital and mixed-signal portions of complex RF electronics, such as phased array control circuitry.
  • Design circuits with FPGAs, processors, microcontrollers, and other complex programmable targets.
  • Design mixed-signal electronics ranging from software-defined radios to telemetry subsystems.
  • Perform detailed and complete schematic design for complex boards, ranging from key components to supporting passives.
  • Perform detailed PCB layout in Altium Designer for complex boards, sometimes working with a PCB Designer.
  • Complete analysis such as worst-case circuit analysis, signal integrity analysis, and power integrity analysis.
  • Develop bring-up plans and design verification plans for new electronics modules.
  • Perform bring-up and key verification testing of modules, often working with a technician to complete validation.
  • Release modules to production, working with the Manufacturing and Test Engineering teams.
  • Mentor junior engineers to build technical understanding and professional development.
  • Use working knowledge of adjacent fields, such as software and mechanical, to streamline development of electronics modules.
