Job summary

Astronics is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer in Waukegan, IL for production support and transition from development to manufacturing. The role involves PCB design, high-speed interfaces, and test development, with occasional travel to labs and suppliers.

Ideal candidates hold a BS in Electrical/Computer Engineering with 10+ years in production engineering, ECAD (Altium) experience, and strong collaboration and communication skills.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering from an accredited university with a minimum of 10 years’ experience.
• ECAD experience for schematic capture and layout, preferably Altium Designer.
• Team player and self-starter able to complete projects on time.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience supporting electrical designs in production to resolve production issues.

Responsibilities

• Support transfer of design files into manufacturing and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Mentor interns and Jr. level engineers; provide direction to Ukraine engineers and CAD specialists.
• Lead testing, documentation, and scripts for product verification.
• Support ISO and internal audits of electrical engineering processes.
• Oversee high-level and multiple mid/low-complexity programs concurrently.
• Collaborate with vendors on electrical engineering evaluation.
