Job summary

Powell is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer II in Houston to lead projects from concept to completion. This role requires a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and 4–8 years of experience, with advanced AutoCAD drafting and switchgear design capabilities.

You will work with clients to design low and medium voltage switchgear, coordinate with PMs and engineering teams, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring scope, budget, and schedule adherence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 4–8 years of engineering experience.
• Advanced AutoCAD drafting skills.
• Advanced proficiency in switchgear design and control schemes.
• Strong understanding of power systems and relay applications for switchgear.

Responsibilities

• Independently complete projects to match client specifications and requirements.
• Draft electrical construction drawings using AutoCAD with in-house teams.
• Engineer 480V through 5kV Motor Control and 480V through 38kV Switchgear designs.
• Interpret project write-ups, client specs and drawings with PMs.
• Create and validate Bills of Materials for submittal and approval.
• Conduct design reviews and mentor junior engineers.
• Provide technical support in client meetings and in sales.
