Job summary

Powell Industries, Inc. is seeking a Senior R&D Engineer for its Houston office to develop and validate new power distribution product designs, including circuit breakers and switchgear, from concept to production.

The role also involves continuation engineering on existing lines and supporting regulatory standards development. The candidate will oversee engineers and test staff on projects, participate in lab testing, validate components, and coordinate with outside vendors to deliver

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering.
• 4+ years of progressive engineering design experience on technical projects.
• Experience with medium/high voltage electrical power systems is preferred.
• Experience with DFMEA and PFMEA is preferred.
• Experience in Stage-Gate processes is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Propose concepts and develop complex designs for existing and new product lines.
• Develop designs that meet profit, cost, quality, and time-to-market targets.
• Validate designs according to standards and prepare documentation.
• Interface with vendors, consultants, and customers to develop options.
• Collaborate on Product Development Process and support Sales/PM/Mfg teams.
