Job summary

Powell in Houston, TX is seeking a Senior Assembler to oversee and coordinate the assembly of Switchgear and Breaker units, following engineering drawings and customer specs. You will guide a team of assemblers, ensure safety and quality, and meet production deadlines.

With 4 years in manufacturing and strong reading of drawings and tape measures, you will train juniors, troubleshoot issues, perform in-process inspections, and help improve assembly procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 4+ years in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read a tape measure and understand engineering drawings.
• Basic English communication skills and computer literacy with Oracle/MES/True View.

Responsibilities

• Build and assemble mechanical components for Switchgear and/or Breaker units per drawings and specs.
• Perform tool maintenance and proper usage.
• Conduct in-process inspections and follow standard work to ensure quality.
• Lead team members on ship prep and assist in training employees.
• Perform root cause analysis on engineering changes and correct discrepancies.
• Identify and track shortages; communicate to QA/QC.
• Lead a small team to complete tasks assigned by lead assembler or supervisor.
• Perform final in-process inspections and mechanical adjustments.
• Promote safety culture and attend safety meetings; keep work areas clean and organized.
