Job summary

IPS is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for our Burlington, MA office. You will lead design efforts for life sciences facilities, overseeing multiple projects and ensuring adherence to codes and budgets.

You will perform detailed electrical studies, coordinate with clients and regulators, and mentor junior staff while ensuring timely delivery and quality across all project phases.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years engineering/design experience in building design (power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, etc.).
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
• PE license strongly preferred.
• Expertise with CAD/BIM tools (AutoCAD/Revit) for electrical design.
• Thorough knowledge of electrical system design and applicable codes.
• Experience with medium voltage systems and hazardous classified areas.
• 2–4 years overseeing engineers and designers on project teams.
• Understanding of the construction process.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects as Project Lead across all design phases.
• Break down projects with PM to determine scope, budget, and staffing.
• Prepare scope of work based on client meetings.
• Prepare or review engineering studies and schematic designs.
• Review existing system operation and update designs accordingly.
• Coordinate with code officials and other professionals on interpretations.
• Assign and review work of design team; monitor progress.
• Communicate changes in scope to clients and PM.
• Review contractor payment applications.
• Coordinate project documents with clients and other teams.
• Perform calculations (short circuit, load, arc flash) for sizing.
