Job summary

IPS in Burlington, Massachusetts, seeks an Electrical Designer III to join our team at our Burlington office. You will design and document electrical systems for life sciences facilities, using AutoCAD and Revit, and collaborate with Project Leads to meet project goals.

This role requires 5–8 years of building design experience, a relevant technical degree, and strong communication skills. Travel up to 20% may be required, and the salary range is $113,000 to $150,000 per year.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of previous design experience in the building design industry.

Responsibilities

• Assists Project Lead with design development and documentation.
• Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
• Assists with the preparation of reports, specifications, plans, and supports construction for projects.
• Sets up views/sheets within Revit or AutoCAD for use on a project, utilizing the established naming convention and drawing list prepared by the Project Lead.
• Selects equipment based on recommendations of the Project Lead and fills out equipment schedules.
• Creates or modifies drawings based on markups generated by others.
• Researches design options and documents findings for the Project Lead.
• Keeps the Project Lead informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional services.
• Researches code issues and communicates with other disciplines.
• Ensures that drawings and designs are per company quality, production, and design standards.
• Makes calculations using engineering formulas and skills for design, such as lighting calculations, power distribution calculations, and equipment sizing.
• Creates specialized drawings, such as operations matrices, elevations, or details, and diagrams.
• Performs special projects and tasks as assigned.
