Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Sr. Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design for projects across multiple sizes. The role can be based in either Chicago or Detroit and features a hybrid work arrangement with up to two days remote.

You will guide design teams, make critical design decisions, and coordinate with multi-discipline groups while maintaining high-quality project documentation and client engagement. A strong NEC/IECC knowledge base and experience with BIM tools are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with six years of related design experience or equivalent.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• U.S. Citizenship is required due to work eligibility and security considerations.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass MVR check.
• Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop design teams for electrical power and lighting designs for diverse projects.
• Serve as Discipline Leader for the Illinois team.
• Coordinate with architectural, structural, mechanical, technology, and suppliers.
• Prepare proposals and maintain client relations; develop new business with existing clients.
• Ensure design quality and compliance with NEC, IECC, NFPA, ISA, IEEE standards.
