Job summary

Engtal, a 100% employee-owned MEP engineering firm, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead design and delivery of complex electrical systems for laboratories, data centers, life sciences, and secure facilities in the Rockville area.

You will direct design of power, lighting, fire alarm, grounding, and controls; coordinate with multi-discipline teams; mentor junior engineers; and nurture client relationships to drive project success.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of electrical design experience in MEP/consulting.
• PE license preferred.
• Experience with mission-critical facilities and data centers is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of electrical building systems (power, lighting, fire alarm, grounding).
• Guide projects through design to delivery, managing scope, schedule and budget.
• Develop technical solutions based on client objectives and facility constraints.
• Design and specify equipment like switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS, lighting.
• Coordinate with mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, architecture, and owner teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in client meetings and reviews.
• Support construction administration with RFIs, submittals, and site observations.
