Job summary

Engtal is seeking an Electrical Engineer with 6–10 years of experience to design complex electrical building systems for government, institutional, and private sectors. The role emphasizes ownership of projects, mentoring junior staff, and collaboration across multiple disciplines and offices.

The position offers hybrid flexibility, a path to lead diverse projects, and engagement with critical facilities and sustainability-focused design within a 100% employee-owned firm.

Qualifications

• 6-10 years of Electrical Engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Experience with power distribution, lighting and controls, emergency power, grounding, and UPS systems.
• Knowledge of electrical system modeling and analysis.
• Prior MEP/consulting engineering experience preferred.
• Federal building design experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design complex electrical building systems across power distribution, lighting and controls, grounding, lightning protection, emergency power, and UPS systems.
• Lead project teams and deliver comprehensive electrical design packages.
• Perform load flow, short-circuit, and voltage-drop calculations.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, project managers, contractors, and clients throughout project delivery.
• Provide technical oversight, training, and guidance to junior engineers and designers.
• Support projects through construction and commissioning.
• Work with electrical teams across multiple offices to improve internal standards and technical quality.
• Deliver projects for federal, state and local agencies, universities, and commercial and industrial clients.
