Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services team in Charlotte or Raleigh. The role focuses on leading electrical design across projects, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring code-compliant, high‑quality outcomes for complex facilities.

Ideal candidates have a PE license, 10+ years of experience in building electrical design, and strong proficiency with AutoCAD and electrical design software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
• Professional engineering license (PE or equivalent) recognized by licensing board.
• 10+ years of experience in electrical building design (lighting, power, systems).
• Knowledge of life safety systems and building management systems.
• Strong computer skills: Office, AutoCAD, electrical design software.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate work of Electrical Engineers with multi-discipline team through project development.
• Establish client relations and participate in design/production meetings.
• Lead electrical aspects on multiple projects; mentor staff as needed.
• Ensure code compliance through reviews with governing agencies.
• Conduct schematic, design development, and contract document sessions on site with project team.
• Track project workload and financials to meet schedule.
