Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer in Charlotte, NC to lead electrical design for building projects, ensuring performance, reliability, and code compliance. You will coordinate a multidisciplinary team, engage with clients, and drive project success.

Responsibilities include leading electrical design efforts, guiding junior staff, and collaborating with project managers to meet schedules and budgets in a dynamic, employee‑owned culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
• Minimum 10 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license recognized by the licensing board.
• Extensive knowledge of building electrical power, lighting and signal design, including life safety and BMS.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD; experience with electrical design software.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the work of Electrical Engineers with a multidiscipline team through project development.
• Establish client relations and participate in design/production meetings for electrical systems.
• Lead electrical activities on projects and ensure schedules are met.
• Conduct reviews for code compliance with various agencies.
• Mentor staff and coordinate workload to meet project milestones.
• Work with Project Manager and Regional Controller for project reviews.
