Job summary

ArchKey Solutions is seeking an Engineering Design Lead to manage a small team delivering detailed electrical designs, 3D models, and construction documents for complex installations in our Plymouth, MN office.

You will guide engineering calculations, ensure NEC/code compliance, and collaborate with field electricians. This role emphasizes leadership, technical excellence, and continuous improvement across hyper-scale projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• 9–10 years of design engineering experience or 8 years with PE license.
• Extensive experience in facilities power design including lighting, receptacle layouts, circuiting, panelboard schedules, load calculations, and equipment sizing.
• Experience in healthcare, heavy industrial, and/or data center projects is highly desirable; controls experience is a plus.
• Advanced ability to read, interpret, and apply NEC and building codes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of engineers and designers to develop electrical permit drawings, 3D models, and construction documents.
• Develop, review, and approve engineering calculations and reports (arc flash, short circuit, overcurrent, duct bank ampacity).
• Provide technical direction, constructability guidance, and risk mitigation for projects.
• Review designs to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and company practices.
• Lead outside engineering document reviews and support value engineering and constructability planning.
• Coordinate with field electricians and support data collection and implementation.
