Job summary

ArchKey Solutions LLC is seeking an Engineering Design Manager to lead multiple engineering and design teams across large electrical installations. The role balances technical oversight with personnel development, ensuring code-compliant, constructible designs on demanding schedules.

The ideal candidate will guide conceptual designs, coordinate with field leadership and estimators, and drive QA/QC while staying current with energy codes and industry best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program; Professional Engineer (PE) license required, with the ability to obtain licensure in multiple states.
• 11–12 years of experience in facilities power design including lighting, receptacle layouts, circuiting, panelboard schedules, load calculations, and equipment sizing.
• Proven experience leading, mentoring, and developing engineering teams across projects of varying size and complexity.
• Experience in healthcare, heavy industrial, and/or data center projects is highly desirable; controls experience is a plus.
• Advanced ability to read, interpret, and apply electrical contracts, drawings, and specifications, with extensive NEC knowledge.
• Proficiency with Revit, Autodesk tools, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
• Experience performing and reviewing engineering studies using SKM or ETAP.
• Strong commitment to electrical construction, engineering excellence, and people leadership.

Responsibilities

• Leads and manages multiple teams of engineers and designers, overseeing detailed electrical drawings, specifications, 3D models, and construction documents.
• Provides technical leadership in conceptual designs, design alternatives, and value engineering in collaboration with field leadership, project managers, and estimators.
• Oversees electrical calculations, studies, specifications, reports, and technical correspondence throughout all construction phases.
• Provides oversight and approval for studies including arc flash, short circuit, OCPD coordination, duct bank ampacity, lighting, and power factor correction.
• Coordinates with field teams to support data collection and implementation as needed.
• Monitors and evaluates team performance to achieve quality, productivity, and schedule adherence.
• Resolves escalated technical issues and supports complex problem resolution.
• Coaches and mentors engineers and designers with regular performance feedback.
• Plans and coordinates workloads across projects to ensure staffing efficiency and on-time delivery.
• Establishes and improves engineering standards, design criteria, and QA/QC processes.
