Job summary

Applied Engineering is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join our team as a remote role. You will lead electrical design and validation for major subsystems, translate requirements into robust electrical designs, and own schematics, drawings, calculations, and BOMs.

You will drive design reviews, prototype builds, testing, and troubleshooting while collaborating with mechanical, systems, and manufacturing teams.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering is required.
• 5+ years in industrial electrical design or electromechanical systems.
• Strong knowledge of power distribution, conversion, monitoring, controls, and system integration.
• Experience designing specs for switchgear, switchboards, transfer switches, loadbanks, and generators.
• Experience with NEC, UL, and industry derating criteria.
• Proven experience with design documentation, reviews, testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with design standards, manufacturability, safety, and compliance practices.
• Ability to travel up to 20% within the USA.

• Lead electrical design and validation for major subsystems and product areas.
• Translate system requirements into practical, robust electrical designs.
• Own schematics, drawings, calculations, specifications, and bills of material.
• Drive design reviews, trade studies, prototype builds, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with mechanical, systems, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and project teams.
• Mentor early-career engineers and reinforce electrical design standards.
• Support project planning, effort estimation, and execution.
• Contribute to projects that impact communities across North America.
